We did get one day of some patchy sun, and so wandered over to the massive Phoenix Park. The phallic monument on the left is the 62-metre tall Wellington Monument, a memorial for the Duke of Wellington. Frankly, I prefer his memorial outside the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow hehe.

Within the park grounds is Dublin Zoo. Seeing as we were there and it was free with this Dublin Pass thing that we bought (which gives free entry into heaps of tourist attractions) we went in for a wander, and saw the usual array of animals and whatnot. Orangutans and monkeys...

Stunningly beautiful birds that look as though they're trying to get the fuck out, and no bloody wonder when you look at the size of its enclosure. Pardon my Dutch but that really is absolutely fucking disgusting as far as I'm concerned, and if it weren't for the fact he'd probably never survive in the wild (and the fact I'd get arrested) I'd bust the poor little bastard out myself.

Lions and tigers and jaguars and various other pussy that also look as though they've tried to bust their way out, and if it weren't for the fact they'd eat me (and I'd get arrested again) I'd bust them out too!

This was hilarious to watch. This little lemur really wanted to get into the enclosure with the rest of his mates, but this bird refused to move! Over the course of about 10 minutes, the lemur would edge closer and closer until the bird squawked at him and scared him up the nearest tree. Eventually he worked up some more courage, slowly edged closer and closer...

...reached out to startle the bird...

...and it worked hahaha! The bird took off and up went the tail - victory is sweet :)

We also had a wander around Trinity College, a 47-acre campus right in the middle of the city. Ummm yeah, that's all I have to say about that :) It's just a really nice place in which to take a quick detour while you're in town.

From colleges to castles - this is Dublin Castle (well, a very small corner of it). Strictly speaking, Dublin Castle is actually a palace.

We were told the difference between a castle and palace is that castles are cold and decrepit, and palaces are to show off your bling. This castle/palace sure has a lot of bling to show off!

The tour took us underground to where archaeologists had been digging around recently and unearthed some of the original structure and foundations.

A lot of walking, a lot of Guinness, and 60 hours after landing, we were back on the plane. During the flight I made an adorable little friend, and we spent next 30 minutes scaring each other hahaha, cute (maybe I'll reconsider kids some day ;) So yeah that's Dublin - a bloody great place for weekend night life, wandering around town, and enjoying the laid-back atmosphere. And I've discovered it is very true what everybody told me - Guinness is far nicer in Ireland! :)

By the way, have a listen to this - it's bloody funny stuff and I love the Irish accent!
