Rome - what a fucking amazing place! To quote Lonely Planet, "If you had time for just one city in life, Rome's your spot." With over 2,500 years of history, Rome is a huge city and there is a shitload to see here with historical significance! We had three full days here and wanted to squeeze in a lot of stuff and, despite some more dodgy weather, we managed to see everything we aimed to. Rome is a very busy and energetic city and I thoroughly enjoyed it; even just simply meandering around town was an unreal experience!

The view from the Spanish Steps overlooking the Barcaccia ("the ugly boat") Fountain in Piazza di Spagna.

Like I said above, Rome is a very busy place swarming with people (most of who seem to walk on the road).

St. Peter's Basilica, overlooking Piazza di San Pietro (St. Peter's Square) in Vatican City. The Pope usually makes an appearance here at 10am every Wednesday (we were here on a Tuesday; after nearly seeing him in Munich we could've almost seen him again).

Castle Sant'Angelo as seen from the adjacent bridge, Ponte Sant'Angelo, with sculptured angels along its length. This massive cylindrical building was once a fortress and castle, and is now a museum.

Just some of the many ancient ruins around the city.

The Rome equivalent of my mate in Brisbane hehe.

We've all had nights like this...

...and this ;)

One of the many great things about Europe is the European cars. Nice!

And this gives you some idea of how folk drive in Europe.

And another great thing about Europe is the food! This came from a little fast-food pizza joint near the Spanish Steps, and damn it was good!

Fontana di Trevi (Trevi Fountain). This was designed in 1732, completed in 1762, and depicts Neptune's chariot being led by Tritons with seahorses and yada yada yada.. The custom is to hurl a coin into the fountain over your shoulder while facing away and having your picture taken. This ensures your future return to Rome. A second coin grants a wish, but I was too cheap for that. In fact I wanted to lean in and get my coin back hehe.
