Grindelwald, en route to Jungfraujoch (below). We had to change trains here but had time for a quick wander. Much like other towns in the area it was quiet and (mostly) flat and surrounded by massive mountains. Very cool!

Kleine Scheidegg station - another change of train for the steep climb to the summit, somewhere up there.

I hadn't seen snow in a while hehe ;)

These are some of the views from the summit - bloody nice! Jungfraujoch is the highest train station in Europe at 3,571m (11,782ft), and on a clear day the views are simply amazing. It was completely sunny for most of the time we were up there and we went for a good wander along the mountain in the snow, and got sunburnt (badly) from the sun reflecting off the snow. It took us until Italy somewhere before we stopped peeling! To add to the amusement, notice we're both wearing sunnies, so we were left with big sunglass-marks while the rest of our face was pink and burnt hahaha! Moral of the story: sunscreen is your friend, especially when playing in the snow!

Speaking of playing in the snow hehe.

A friggin' deep ice crevasse, a lot deeper than it looks here!

I can't remember the name of this area (needless to say it was bloody cold though) but basically it consisted of lots of amazing ice sculptures.

The following day (our last in Switzerland) we took our very burnt faces and sunglass-marks to see a couple more nearby towns. This is Lauterbrunnen, and this was probably my pick of the lot! It's in a narrow valley and simply stunning! We spent a couple hours here wandering around and really didn't want to leave! Spot the huge waterfall up there.

Lunch by the river.

Like I said, simply stunning!

High above Lauterbrunnen is Wengen, a popular ski area in winter. I was told I could hire a bike here, catch a gondola to the top of the mountain, and come screaming back down again, but apparently they only run over summer and I missed out by a matter of days - gutted! Anyway, Wengen was also a great place to simply meander around and enjoy the serenity :)

Looking down the valley over Lauterbrunnen. Quite an amazing spot!
