Napitia (and Milan), Italy (17 - 21 May 2007)

This year is my company's 15th year in business, and they sure know how to celebrate! They hired out the whole Club Med resort in Napitia, southern Italy for around half of all staff (we have about 2,000 people in the company) for an all-inclusive four-day long weekend - nice! As for who went and who didn't it was a first-come first-served affair, and I would've been one of the first to put my name down!

It was just another typical Scottish day...

...and another typical Italian day :)

I stayed in a hotel at Heathrow Airport overnight, and the following day flew via Rome to Lamezia airport (30 minutes from the resort). We had about a two hour stopover in Rome, and I contemplated getting a train into town to go wandering for an hour, but it would've cost about €25 and considering I spent a bit of time in Rome just last September it didn't really seem worth it. Instead I meandered around the airport and lapped up the sun, but there wasn't a lot to see.

Later that day my group arrived at Club Med to a nice cheesy welcoming.

We got our cheesy name tags (which I modified to suit)...

...and our cheesy t-shirts hehe. That's good though, I need some rags to clean my bike ;)

The weather forecast for the next four days was for showers and shit, and 15 minutes after I arrived this was the view of the pissing rain from my room. Great.

This shot pretty much sums up the first day's weather, random periods of sun with the blackest clouds looming hehe. I'd come here wanting more of the sun I'd be lapping up in Florida a fortnight ago, but I was no longer hopeful!

As it turns out though the forecasters were about as good as their airline (more on that later), and the remaining three days were mostly glorious southern Italian sun - ahhhh! :) This is the view from my room looking out towards resort the entrance.

Some random shots around the resort. It wasn't the nicest resort I've ever been to (have a look at Outrigger Resort where Mo and I stayed in Fiji a couple years back), but it'll do ;)

The resort had two separate pools, one of which was right in front of the bar (perfect!) and man I was lapping them up! :)

When the pools got boring the Mediterranean Sea was just a five-minute walk away through the forest.

Apart from a paddle I never actually went in, although as it turns out that didn't matter (again, more on that later).

Looks like the UK over there ;)
