The following morning was our last here and we were up bright and early to get a train back Brussels for the day.

Brussels is home to the EU headquarters, housed in this building here in the middle of the city.

It looks like Kip from Napoleon Dynamite was visiting too hahaha!

I'd been told not to expect much from Brussels, and I can see why. Just like with Antwerp, the plan was to spend the day wandering and seeing as much as possible before flying out in the evening. Fairly early on we came across a market selling some pretty cool and random goodies. Those things on the right are a rather extravagant means of smoking your ciggies or your grass or whatever you're in to.

These weren't glasses of beer (unfortunately) but candles in beer glasses - awesome huh! I bought one :)

And I just had to buy this - classic! The Italian one is so true hahaha!

This is the town hall in Grand Place, the central market square of Brussels.

And I think this is my mate from Vienna and Prague but for once he's not bashing the crap of some poor bastard with his club.

Just up the road is this famous little guy who has become something of an icon for Brussels - the Manneken Pis hehe!

And this is the Aaron Pis! ;)

From there we continued wandering.

We saw plenty of other big stunning buildings. This thing resembling Notre Dame in Paris...

This thing, that apparently required around 300 houses to be bowled over for its construction...

After a lot of wandering we found a WWF carnival thingee in the middle of a huge park. I thought about jumping on the bouncy castle, but I'm 25 now ;)

Instead I raided the crepe stall (and damn it was good!)...

...and got me this bloody huge wad of freshly-made candy floss hahaha - look the size of it!

Four days absolutely flew by and before we knew it we were on the plane again heading back into always-predictable weather.

While I was gone my flatmates had fun making my room look like a crime scene (I still haven't taken them down yet ;)

So that was Belgium - highly underrated in my opinion. Biking around Bruges and the unplanned trip to the Netherlands were definitely the highlights for me, and like I said somewhere earlier I intend on heading back there at some point for more cycling. I really liked Antwerp too but I think Brussels can be safely avoided - there just wasn't much there that appealed to me and it didn't have the beauty of Bruges and Antwerp. Belgium easily boasts the best beer on the planet for mine, and I raided Duty Free on my way home and brought back a small mini-bar's worth hehe. And speaking of beer, two more weeks and I'm off to Dublin for another long weekend; bring on the Guinness! :)

You don't like the Belgians' language?? ;)
- Aaron

All good! ('cept maybe some of the language babe.) And all that food - lucky you're burning the calories off somehow.

Here's a comment from a friend: Belgium looks awesome. Why the hell didn't you go to any breweries tho!
