Tuesday, 3 April 2007 - Sun, glorious sun!

For four straight days now we've had nothing but total sunshine with barely a cloud in the sky! That may not sound like a big event to those back in Australia but over here this is a very big deal hahaha! The cops are out on their horses (leaving horse shit all over the road, there are signs everywhere saying "No dog fouling" but I don't see the cops getting the pooper-scooper out everytime their horse dumps a load)...

The trees are starting to show signs of life again and the squirrels are loving it...

And I'm walking around Glasgow during lunch without a jacket! Speaking of my walks, Glasgow still appears to be nicer the further out I go (the shot on the right is the Glasgow Rangers Football Club stadium).

Yup, it's nice outside of the city centre, and as soon as I get back I see somebody's lit the rubbish bin on fire hahaha!

By the way I had the noise police come round tonight telling me to turn the stereo down hehe. I asked if I could take their photo, but they weren't interested. My flatmate's boyfriend had come round at some point and said he could hear it from out on the street hahaha - the damn thing cost me £200 so I should think so! ;)

Wednesday, 4 April 2007 - Let the sunshine in!

Spring is definitely in the air! According to the BBC it only hit 17 degrees in Glasgow today but it felt a lot warmer (or I'm just acclimatised to the cold now). People were out in droves during lunch...

...and so too were jets in the sky, and the only 'cloud' around was from them.

These dropkicks were having a raging argument as I walked past over exactly how many jet streams were in the sky. Note the bottle of alcohol in the white bag that guy is holding.

And, as always, the boys in blue (or highlighter-yellow) were out intimidating the public. Ahhhh :) I guarantee the weather's going to crap out over Easter.

Friday, 6 April 2007 - To the Lake District - hooray!
Happy Easter everyone! :) I'm heading down to the Lake District in the north of England for four days with Jen for a lot of cycling (weather pending!). To keep you amused, I've put up another bunch of Craptions - I bloody love these! Keep in mind that these, along with all the other stuff I put up, are on the Miscellaneous page (there's a link on the home page). Have a nice weekend whatever you're doing, gorge yourself on chocolate, and remember...

...Jesus is the reason for the season hehe ;)

And beware the Easter Bunny; Santa's not the only one who knows when you are sleeping!

Tuesday, 10 April 2007 - Mmmm chocolate!

All the photos from my weekend in the Lake District are here, so go have a nosey :)

Wednesday, 11 April 2007 - Depressing FM!

I went into Superdrug (pharmacy chain) this morning to buy some dental floss (yes that’s right Mum - dental floss, your son is looking after himself ;) When I went up to pay for it the radio playing throughout the store said "...Superdrug Radio blah blah blah...", and I said to the lady behind the counter "Wow, you’ve got your own radio station", to which I got "Yeah, fucking Depressing FM" hahaha! Happy people these Glaswegians :)

Thursday, 12 April 2007 - Health and safety

Check this dude out! This is looking out of my bedroom window. This guy was sitting and hanging out of the fourth-storey window across the street doing something with that window frame while his mate watched on. They were at it for about half an hour before doing the same on the third and second storey, and I was just waiting for either him or a window fall out, but they didn't.

Saturday, 14 April 2007 - I'M GOING TO FLORIDA!
Hell yeah, Miami Beach here I come! :) I fly out at 9am tomorrow morning on an eight-hour flight to New York, and then a three-hour flight down to meet Mo in Fort Lauderdale. I land back in Edinburgh again exactly two weeks later. Our tentative itinerary is here.

To keep you all amused while I'm away, I've put up my collection of Happy Tree Friends. For those who haven't heard of HTF, they are a series of three-minute cartoons, but I guarantee they're not like any cartoons you would've seen before. To quote this website: "The Happy Tree Friends are cute, cuddly animals whose daily adventures always end up going horribly wrong", so at least have a look at one, and enjoy!

Sunday, 29 April 2007 - And I'm back again, bugger!
Mo and I touched back down into Edinburgh at 8am this morning after a bloody awesome two weeks worth of gallivanting around Florida (and me in New York for a few hours in between flights yesterday in a spur-of-the-moment idea). I'm really not too happy to be back. The weather is its typical dreary self (we had nothing but hot sun every day over there) and just being away has reminded me that, on the whole, Edinburgh (well the UK actually, perhaps with the exception of London to a small extent) is just not clicking with me. Don't get me wrong, Edinburgh is a lovely place and all that, but it's just not my cup of tea and I'm now more than ever seriously considering relocating to London some time next year to see out the remainder of my ancestry visa (not that the weather is any more tropical down there, but I seem to prefer bigger and busier cities). Anyway, that's all another story, and in the meantime I've got some 700 Florida and New York photos to sort through.

By the way, did anybody check out Happy Tree Friends?

Wednesday, 2 May 2007 - Just another day in Glas-vegas - the stabbing capital of Europe (seriously)!

I got a txt while on the train from my boss this morning saying there had been an 'incident' outside our work and to use the rear entrance as the front was cordoned off. Rumours were spreading of a stabbing murder but that wasn't the case (at least not yet). Two guys got into a fight with some other guy after chatting up a group of chicks outside a club right behind my work, and were subsequently followed, stabbed, and are now both in hospital (more info here). I love Glasgow.

Saturday, 5 May 2007 - Finally - my new bike!

I've had to wait over eight months but finally, after taking care of the student loan and all the other miscellaneous expenses like the responsible person I am, I've got another bike! Over my 19 months in Brisbane I covered 5,200kms on the last bike - something that will probably take a lot longer to achieve here due to the crap weather. As for the bike, it's another GT (same as Brisbane), but this model (Zaskar) set me back over £1000 so it better look after me just as well as the last one too!

Stoked :)

My first ride: last night around several fuel stations looking for air pumps capable of pumping the air horn up to 100psi hehe. I learnt in Brisbane that bells are completely useless. This thing on the other hand is louder than a car horn, and that's how I like it ;)

Monday, 7 May 2007 - Aaron in Florida is up!
All the shots and storied of my US excursion are up. Click here :)

Thursday, 10 May 2007 - Aaron the handyman!

Over the past couple of weeks our bath drain has become pretty well blocked and causes the bath to half fill when someone has a shower. After unsuccessfully trying to unblock it with some drain unblocking crap from the supermarket, I started to wonder about the screw in the centre of the plug. Although unlikely I thought unscrewing it might somehow aid in removing the plug so we could then just scoop out whatever shit is blocking it. I whipped out the flathead, took the screw out, the water suddenly drained away but the plug wouldn't budge. I tried screwing it back in but the screw wouldn't tighten hehe. Kind of weird I thought but oh well, the water's draining out! Then this morning we get a bang on the door from the neighbour downstairs saying there a shitload of water pissing through her ceiling hahaha! It turns out that little screw was holding the S-pipe in place, which would've fallen away when I loosened it causing the water to drain straight onto the floor beneath the bath and somehow through the ceiling below. There was a pretty decent pond on her bathroom floor and she wasn't too impressed. Our handy handyman came out and patched it up, but the damn drain is still blocked! I'll keep trying.

Sunday, 13 May 2007 - No comment!

The week before last I finally bought a new bike (details above). In the weeks before I left for Florida we had lots of warm sunny weather - I figured spring/summer was finally starting to kick in! So, naturally I expected much of the same when I got back, and expected I'd have plenty of opportunity to get out and break the bike in. WRONG! In the two weeks since I've been back from Florida, we've had no sun, cold temperatures, and lots of the wet stuff - typical! All I can think is that I leave on Thursday for southern Italy.

Monday, 14 May 2007 - Now I am going to bloody comment!

Look at this - just look at this! We had a long weekend the week before last, and I had a new bike sitting over there looking at me, and every day the weather was crap! It improved somewhat during the week, then come the weekend it bombed out again. Now just look at this - first thing Monday morning!

Tuesday, 15 May 2007 - Damn I wish I was in Edinburgh today!

This is bloody funny! Full story here...
